Ashutosh Tewari

Ashutosh Tewari is a renowned urologist and oncologist specializing in prostate cancer. He is currently the Chairman of the Department of Urology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City.

Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]

Tewari was born and raised in India. He completed his medical degree at GSVM Medical College in Kanpur, India. He then pursued his postgraduate training in surgery and urology at the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences in Lucknow, India.

Career[edit | edit source]

Tewari moved to the United States for further training and completed a fellowship in urologic oncology at the University of California, San Francisco. He then joined the faculty at the Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City, where he served as the Director of the Prostate Cancer Institute and the LeFrak Center for Robotic Surgery.

In 2013, Tewari was appointed as the Chairman of the Department of Urology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. His research focuses on the development of new surgical techniques and technologies for the treatment of prostate cancer, including the use of robotic surgery.

Awards and Recognition[edit | edit source]

Tewari has received numerous awards for his contributions to the field of urology and oncology, including the Gold Cystoscope Award from the American Urological Association and the Fritz Schroeder International Lifetime Achievement Award.
