The Columbia University School of Social Work (CUSSW) is the graduate school of social work at Columbia University. The Columbia University School of Social Work was established in 1898 as the New York School of Philanthropy, making it the first institution of its kind in the United States. It was later renamed the New York School of Social Work and became affiliated with Columbia University in 1940.
