Dan J. Stein

Dan J. Stein is a South African psychiatrist and neuroscientist. He is best known for his work on anxiety disorders and mood disorders, including obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Stein was born and raised in South Africa. He completed his undergraduate and medical degrees at the University of the Witwatersrand. He then went on to complete his psychiatry residency and a fellowship in neuroscience at the Columbia University in New York City.

Career[edit | edit source]

Stein is currently a professor of psychiatry and the director of the Anxiety Disorders Program at the University of Cape Town's Department of Psychiatry and Mental Health. He has published extensively in the field of psychiatry, with a particular focus on anxiety disorders and mood disorders. His research has contributed significantly to the understanding and treatment of conditions such as OCD and PTSD.
