Doylestown is a borough in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. It is located 27 miles north of Philadelphia and 80 miles southwest of New York City. As of the 2020 census, the borough's population was 8,300.

Doylestown's origins date back to 1745 when William Doyle obtained a license to build a tavern on what is now the corner of Main and State Streets. The town grew around this tavern, which became a popular stop for travelers. Doylestown was incorporated as a borough in 1838.

. According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 2.16 square miles, all of it land.

Demographics[edit | edit source]

As of the 2020 census, there were 8,300 people residing in the borough. The population density was 3,842.6 people per square mile. The racial makeup of the borough was predominantly White, with small percentages of African American, Asian, and other races.

Education[edit | edit source]

Doylestown is served by the Central Bucks School District. The borough is home to several public and private schools, including Central Bucks High School West and Delaware Valley University.

Doylestown is accessible via U.S. Route 202 and Pennsylvania Route 611. The borough is also served by the Doylestown station, which provides SEPTA Regional Rail service to Philadelphia.
