Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre is a premier medical education institution located in Pimpri-Chinchwad, Maharashtra, India. It was established in 1996 by the D. Y. Patil Education Society and is recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI).

The college was founded by Dr. D. Y. Patil, a prominent educationist and philanthropist, with the aim of providing quality medical education to students from all sections of society. The college was initially affiliated to the University of Mumbai and later to the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS).

Campus[edit | edit source]

The campus of the college is spread over a sprawling area of 50 acres. It houses the medical college, the hospital, and the research centre. The campus also includes hostels for students, staff quarters, a library, and sports facilities.

Academics[edit | edit source]

The college offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in various disciplines of medicine. The undergraduate program leads to the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree, while the postgraduate programs lead to the Doctor of Medicine (MD) and Master of Surgery (MS) degrees. The college also offers super-specialty courses leading to the Doctorate of Medicine (DM) and Master of Chirurgiae (MCh) degrees.

The attached hospital is a 750-bedded multi-specialty hospital that provides healthcare services to the people of Pimpri-Chinchwad and surrounding areas. The hospital has departments for all major specialties and super-specialties, including Cardiology, Neurology, Orthopedics, Pediatrics, and Obstetrics and Gynecology.

The research centre at the college conducts research in various fields of medicine. The research activities are supported by a well-equipped central research laboratory.

Notable alumni[edit | edit source]

Several alumni of the college have made significant contributions to the field of medicine. Some of the notable alumni include Dr. A. B. Patil, a renowned cardiologist, and Dr. S. D. Patil, a well-known neurologist.
