Hypernephroma
Hypernephroma is a type of renal cell carcinoma (RCC), which is the most common type of kidney cancer in adults. It is also known as clear cell carcinoma and is often discovered incidentally during imaging tests for other abdominal conditions.
Symptoms[edit | edit source]
Hypernephroma typically does not cause symptoms in its early stages. However, as the disease progresses, symptoms may include:
- Blood in the urine (hematuria)
- Lower back pain on one side
- Loss of appetite and weight loss
- Fatigue
- Intermittent fever
Causes[edit | edit source]
The exact cause of hypernephroma is unknown. However, certain factors may increase the risk of developing this disease, including:
- Smoking
- Obesity
- High blood pressure
- Long-term dialysis
- Certain inherited syndromes
Diagnosis[edit | edit source]
Hypernephroma is often diagnosed incidentally during imaging tests for other conditions. If hypernephroma is suspected, the following tests may be performed:
- Ultrasound
- Computed tomography (CT) scan
- Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
- Biopsy
Treatment[edit | edit source]
Treatment for hypernephroma depends on the stage of the disease, the patient's overall health, and their personal preferences. Treatment options may include:
- Surgery to remove the kidney (nephrectomy)
- Targeted therapy
- Immunotherapy
- Radiation therapy
Prognosis[edit | edit source]
The prognosis for hypernephroma varies depending on the stage of the disease at diagnosis, the patient's overall health, and the effectiveness of treatment.
