John Muir Health

John Muir Health is a not-for-profit integrated system of doctors, hospitals, and other healthcare services in the San Francisco Bay Area, California, United States. Named after the environmentalist John Muir, the organization was founded in 1997 through the merger of John Muir Medical Center and Mount Diablo Medical Center.

John Muir Health was established in 1997, but its roots can be traced back to the opening of the Concord Community Hospital in 1930 and the Walnut Creek Community Hospital in 1965. The two hospitals merged in 1986 to form John Muir Medical Center. In 1997, John Muir Medical Center merged with Mount Diablo Medical Center to form John Muir Health.

John Muir Health provides a wide range of healthcare services, including emergency medicine, primary care, specialty care, hospital care, home health care, and outpatient services. It also offers health education and community health programs.

Facilities[edit | edit source]

John Muir Health operates two major medical centers: John Muir Medical Center, Walnut Creek and John Muir Medical Center, Concord. It also operates numerous outpatient centers, urgent care centers, and other healthcare facilities throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.

John Muir Health has received numerous awards and recognitions for its quality of care, including being named one of the top hospitals in the nation by U.S. News & World Report.
