Jonas Schmidt-Chanasit (born August 25, 1979) is a German virologist and professor. He is known for his research on arboviruses and emerging infectious diseases. Schmidt-Chanasit is a professor at the Bernhard Nocht Institute for Tropical Medicine in Hamburg, Germany.

Jonas Schmidt-Chanasit was born in Berlin, Germany. He studied medicine and biology at the University of Würzburg, where he also completed his PhD in virology.

Schmidt-Chanasit began his career at the Bernhard Nocht Institute for Tropical Medicine, where he focused on the study of arboviruses, including the Zika virus, Dengue virus, and Chikungunya virus.
