Mang Inasal
Mang Inasal is a Filipino barbecue fast food restaurant chain. It is known for its grilled chicken and pork dishes, particularly its signature Chicken Inasal, which is a type of grilled chicken marinated in a mixture of local spices and vinegar. The name "Mang Inasal" translates to "Mr. Barbecue" in English.
History[edit | edit source]
Mang Inasal was founded by Edgar Sia II in Iloilo City in 2003. The first branch was established in the Robinsons Mall Carpark in Iloilo City. The restaurant quickly gained popularity due to its unique take on traditional Filipino barbecue and its unlimited rice offering, which appealed to many Filipino diners.
In 2010, Jollibee Foods Corporation (JFC), one of the largest fast food companies in the Philippines, acquired a 70% stake in Mang Inasal for ₱3 billion. This acquisition allowed Mang Inasal to expand its reach and open more branches nationwide.
Menu[edit | edit source]
Mang Inasal's menu primarily features Filipino-style grilled dishes. The most popular item is the Chicken Inasal, which is served with rice and a side of chicken oil. Other notable items include:
The restaurant also offers a variety of Filipino desserts and beverages.
Expansion[edit | edit source]
Since its inception, Mang Inasal has grown significantly. As of 2021, the chain has over 500 branches across the Philippines. The expansion has been driven by the brand's strong appeal to the local market and its strategic locations in malls and commercial areas.
