From WikiMD's Wellness Encyclopedia

Marino DOC is a Denominazione di origine controllata (DOC) Italian wine produced in the region of Lazio, specifically in the area of the town of Marino. The DOC was established in 1971 and is one of the oldest in Lazio. The wine is known for its high quality and distinctive characteristics, which are influenced by the unique terroir of the region.

History[edit | edit source]

The history of wine production in Marino dates back to ancient times. The area was known for its vineyards even in the times of the Roman Empire, and the tradition has continued to the present day. The Marino DOC was established in 1971, making it one of the oldest DOCs in Lazio.

Production[edit | edit source]

Marino DOC wines are produced from a blend of grape varieties. The main grape used is Malvasia, which must make up at least 50% of the blend. Other permitted varieties include Trebbiano, Grechetto, Bellone, and Bombino bianco. The wines are typically white, although there is also a rosé version.

The production process involves a careful selection of grapes, followed by fermentation at controlled temperatures. The wines are then aged for a minimum period before being released for sale.

Characteristics[edit | edit source]

Marino DOC wines are known for their distinctive characteristics. They typically have a pale straw-yellow color, with a delicate and fruity aroma. On the palate, they are dry, harmonious, and well-balanced, with a pleasant acidity.

Pairing[edit | edit source]

Marino DOC wines are versatile and can be paired with a variety of dishes. They are particularly well-suited to seafood, white meats, and fresh cheeses.
