Mesabolone

From WikiMD's Wellness Encyclopedia

Mesabolone

Mesabolone is a synthetic and orally active anabolic–androgenic steroid (AAS) and a 17α-alkylated derivative of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) that is marketed in Spain. It is the 17α-methyl derivative of bolasterone and as such is also known as 17α-methylbolasterone. Mesabolone has a high oral bioavailability due to a methyl group at the 17α position.

Pharmacology[edit | edit source]

As an AAS, Mesabolone is an agonist of the androgen receptor (AR), similarly to androgens like testosterone and DHT. This increases protein synthesis, leading to an increase in muscle growth and strength. However, due to its 17α-alkylated structure, it also has a high potential for hepatotoxicity.

Side Effects[edit | edit source]

The side effects of Mesabolone are similar to those of other AAS. These can include acne, hair loss, gynecomastia, mood changes, and liver damage. In addition, due to its 17α-alkylated structure, it has a high potential for hepatotoxicity.

Legal Status[edit | edit source]

In many countries, including the United States, Mesabolone is classified as a controlled substance, making its possession without a prescription illegal. In Spain, however, it is marketed as a prescription medication.
