Nathan Wolfe (born August 24, 1970) is an American virologist known for his work in virus epidemiology and pandemic preparedness. He is the founder of Metabiota and Global Viral, organizations focused on tracking and predicting the spread of infectious diseases.

Nathan Wolfe was born in Detroit, Michigan. He completed his undergraduate studies at Stanford University, where he earned a degree in Biology. He then pursued a Ph.D. in Immunology and Infectious Diseases at Harvard University.

Wolfe began his career as a professor at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, where he focused on the study of HIV and other retroviruses. He later moved to the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he continued his research on zoonotic diseases—those that can be transmitted from animals to humans.

In 2008, Wolfe founded Global Viral, a non-profit organization dedicated to the study of infectious diseases and their transmission. He later founded Metabiota, a company that provides data analytics for epidemic risk.
