Quanjude was founded by Yang Quanren in 1864. The name "Quanjude" translates to "perfection, universality, and virtue". The restaurant has a rich history, having served over 115 million customers including numerous foreign dignitaries and celebrities.

The Peking Roast Duck is the signature dish of Quanjude. The restaurant's unique roasting method, which involves hanging the duck in the oven and roasting it over fruitwood, has been passed down through generations. This method gives the duck its distinctive flavor and crispy skin.
