3-Hydroxybenzoic acid is an organic compound that is classified as a hydroxy acid. It is a derivative of benzoic acid and is one of the three isomeric forms of hydroxybenzoic acid, the others being 2-hydroxybenzoic acid and 4-hydroxybenzoic acid.

3-Hydroxybenzoic acid has the chemical formula C7H6O3. It is a white crystalline solid at room temperature. The compound is soluble in water and can be dissolved in common organic solvents such as ethanol and dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO).
