Dehydrated
Dehydration is a condition that occurs when the loss of body fluids, mostly water, exceeds the amount that is taken in. With dehydration, more water is moving out of individual cells and then out of the body than the amount of water that is taken in through drinking.
Causes[edit | edit source]
Dehydration is usually caused by not drinking enough water during hot weather or exercise, or by drinking water that has been contaminated with bacteria. Other causes can include diarrhea, vomiting, excessive sweating, and increased urination.
Symptoms[edit | edit source]
Symptoms of dehydration can include thirst, less frequent urination, dark-colored urine, fatigue, dizziness, and confusion.
Treatment[edit | edit source]
Treatment for dehydration includes rehydrating the body by drinking fluids and eating foods high in water such as fruits and vegetables.
Prevention[edit | edit source]
Prevention of dehydration involves drinking enough water, especially during hot weather or when exercising, and eating foods high in water.
