Magnesium deficiency (medicine)

Magnesium deficiency, also known as hypomagnesemia, is a condition in which the body lacks sufficient levels of magnesium. Magnesium is an essential mineral that plays a role in various bodily functions, including muscle and nerve function, blood glucose control, and blood pressure regulation. Symptoms of magnesium deficiency can include muscle weakness, cramps, and tremors. Magnesium deficiency can be caused by a poor diet, certain medical conditions, and certain medications.
