Portal:India is a comprehensive gateway that provides access to a wide range of topics related to India, the seventh-largest country by land area, located primarily in South Asia. It is the second-most populous country, the most populous democracy in the world, and is bounded by the Indian Ocean on the south, the Arabian Sea on the southwest, and the Bay of Bengal on the southeast.

History

India's geography is marked by a diverse range of topographical features such as the Himalayan Range, Thar Desert, fertile plains, coastal regions, and the island groups of Lakshadweep and Andaman and Nicobar Islands. India's climate varies from tropical monsoon in the south to temperate in the north.

Culture

Indian culture is a blend of diverse sub-cultures spread all over the Indian subcontinent. It is characterized by a variety of art forms like Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Odissi, and Kathakali; a rich tradition of classical and folk music; a wide range of languages and literature; and a deep-rooted system of philosophy and spirituality.

Economy

India's economy is the world's fifth-largest by nominal GDP and the third-largest by purchasing power parity. It is characterized by a mixed economy that includes agriculture, manufacturing, and service sectors.

Politics

India follows the dual polity system, i.e., federal in nature, i.e., the Constitution of India prescribes a division of powers between the central government and the states.
