Zaragoza (province)

Zaragoza is a province in the autonomous community of Aragon, Spain. It is one of the three provinces in Aragon, along with Huesca and Teruel. The provincial capital is the city of Zaragoza, which is also the capital of the autonomous community.

Zaragoza province is located in northeastern Spain, bordered by the provinces of Tarragona, Lleida, Huesca, Navarre, La Rioja, Soria, Guadalajara, and Teruel. The province covers an area of 17,274 square kilometers, making it the fourth largest province in Spain.

History[edit | edit source]

The area that is now Zaragoza province has been inhabited since prehistoric times. The Romans established the city of Caesaraugusta, which later became Zaragoza. During the Middle Ages, Zaragoza was a significant center of culture and learning in the Kingdom of Aragon.

The economy of Zaragoza province is diverse, with significant sectors including agriculture, industry, and services. The province is known for its production of cereals, fruit, and vegetables, as well as for its wine industry.
