Allstate Corporation is an American insurance company, headquartered in Northfield Township, Illinois, near Northbrook, Illinois. It was founded in 1931 as part of Sears, Roebuck and Co., and was spun off in 1993. Allstate is a large corporation, providing a wide range of insurance products, including auto, home, life, and business insurance.

Allstate was founded in 1931 by Sears, Roebuck and Co. as a division to sell auto insurance by mail. The name "Allstate" was taken from a tire brand sold in the Sears catalog. In 1952, Allstate began selling insurance through its own agents. The company went public in 1993, becoming independent from Sears.
