McVegan
McVegan is a vegan burger offered by the international fast-food chain, McDonald's. It was first introduced in Finland and Sweden in December 2017, following a successful trial period in Tampere, Finland. The McVegan is a significant product in the fast-food industry as it represents a shift towards more sustainable and plant-based food options.
History[edit | edit source]
The McVegan was initially tested in Tampere, Finland, in October 2017. The trial was deemed successful, leading to the burger's permanent addition to the menus in Finland and Sweden in December of the same year. The introduction of the McVegan marked a significant step for McDonald's, as it was the first vegan burger to be sold by the fast-food giant.
Product Description[edit | edit source]
The McVegan burger consists of a soy-based patty, topped with tomato, lettuce, pickles, onions, ketchup, and a vegan mayonnaise. The burger is served in a classic McDonald's bun. The soy patty is made by Anamma, a Swedish food company that specializes in vegan and vegetarian food products.
Reception[edit | edit source]
The McVegan has been generally well-received, particularly among vegan and vegetarian consumers. It has been praised for its taste and texture, as well as its contribution to the increasing availability of vegan options in fast-food chains.
