History[edit]

Mediclinic International was founded in 1983 by Dr. Edwin Hertzog. The company initially focused on the South African market but has since expanded its operations internationally. In 2007, Mediclinic acquired a controlling interest in the Swiss hospital group Hirslanden, significantly increasing its footprint in Europe. In 2016, Mediclinic merged with Al Noor Hospitals Group, further expanding its presence in the Middle East.
