Nedaplatin
Nedaplatin is a platinum-based chemotherapy drug used in the treatment of various types of cancer, including lung cancer, esophageal cancer, and cervical cancer. It is a second-generation platinum compound with a similar mechanism of action to cisplatin, but with less toxicity and fewer side effects.

Nedaplatin was developed by Shionogi in Japan and was first approved for use in 1995. It was designed to overcome the limitations of cisplatin, particularly its high toxicity and resistance.
Mechanism of Action[edit | edit source]
Nedaplatin works by interfering with the DNA in cancer cells, preventing them from dividing and growing. It forms covalent bonds with the DNA, causing the DNA strands to cross-link and inhibiting DNA synthesis and function. This leads to cell death and the reduction of the tumor.
