Stollen is a traditional German fruitcake known for its distinctive shape and rich, flavorful ingredients. It is a popular treat during the Christmas season, particularly in Germany, but is enjoyed worldwide.

The origins of Stollen date back to the 14th century in the German city of Dresden. The cake was initially baked for the Advent season as a fasting food, and was much simpler than the version we know today. Stollen has a significant place in German culture and is often associated with the Christmas season. The city of Dresden hosts an annual "Stollenfest", where a giant Stollen is baked and paraded through the city before being sliced and served to the public.
