Caguas

Caguas is a city and municipality in the Central Mountain Range of Puerto Rico, an unincorporated territory of the United States. It is located south of San Juan, the capital of Puerto Rico, and it is part of the San Juan Metropolitan Area. Caguas is known as "La Ciudad Criolla" (The Creole City) and "El Corazón de Borinquen" (The Heart of Borinquen).

Caguas was founded on January 1, 1775, as San Sebastián del Piñal de Caguax, in honor of Caguax, a local Taíno chief. The city has a rich history that dates back to the pre-Columbian era.
