The Yale Spizzwinks(?), also known simply as the Spizzwinks(?), are an all-male a cappella singing group from Yale University. Founded in 1914, they are the oldest underclassman a cappella group in the United States.
History[edit | edit source]
The Spizzwinks(?) were founded in 1914 by a group of Yale University students who wanted to create a singing group that was less formal than the existing Whiffenpoofs. The name "Spizzwinks" was chosen for its whimsical nature, and the question mark was added to reflect the uncertainty of the group's future at the time.
Repertoire[edit | edit source]
The Spizzwinks(?) perform a wide variety of music, ranging from traditional Yale songs to contemporary pop music. Their repertoire includes arrangements of songs by artists such as The Beatles, Billy Joel, and Queen.
Tours[edit | edit source]
The group tours extensively, both domestically and internationally. They have performed in venues across the United States, as well as in countries such as China, Australia, and South Africa.
Notable Alumni[edit | edit source]
Many former members of the Spizzwinks(?) have gone on to successful careers in various fields. Notable alumni include:
- Cole Porter, a famous composer and songwriter.
- John Kerry, former United States Secretary of State.
