University College London (UCL) is a public research university located in London, United Kingdom. Founded in 1826, it is a constituent college of the University of London. UCL is one of the largest and most prestigious universities in the UK, known for its research, teaching, and innovation.

UCL was established in 1826 as London University by founders inspired by the radical ideas of Jeremy Bentham, who is often regarded as the "spiritual father" of UCL. It was the first university institution to be established in London and the first in England to admit students regardless of their religion. UCL was also the first to admit women on equal terms with men in 1878.
Campus[edit | edit source]
UCL's main campus is located in the Bloomsbury area of central London. The campus is home to a number of historic buildings, including the Wilkins Building, which houses the iconic UCL Main Library and the UCL Portico. The university also has a number of other campuses and facilities across London, including the UCL East campus in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

UCL is organized into 11 faculties, covering a wide range of disciplines. These include the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Faculty of Brain Sciences, Faculty of Engineering Sciences, and the Faculty of Medical Sciences, among others. UCL is renowned for its research output and is consistently ranked among the top universities in the world.
