Northern Dimension Partnership in Public Health and Social Well-being
The Northern Dimension Partnership in Public Health and Social Well-being (NDPHS) is a cooperative initiative aimed at improving public health and social well-being in the Northern Dimension area. This area includes countries in the Baltic Sea region, the Barents region, and the Arctic region. The NDPHS was established in 2003 as part of the broader Northern Dimension policy, which is a joint policy between the European Union, Russia, Norway, and Iceland.

The primary objectives of the NDPHS are to:
- Reduce major communicable diseases and prevent lifestyle-related non-communicable diseases.
- Promote healthy and socially rewarding lifestyles.
- Enhance the quality and accessibility of health and social services.
- Foster social inclusion and reduce health inequalities.
Structure[edit | edit source]
The NDPHS operates through a network of Expert Groups and Task Groups that focus on specific health and social well-being issues. These groups include:
- Expert Group on Alcohol and Substance Abuse
- Expert Group on Antimicrobial Resistance
- Expert Group on Non-Communicable Diseases
- Expert Group on Occupational Safety and Health
- Expert Group on Primary Healthcare

The NDPHS engages in various activities, including:
- Conducting research and analysis on public health and social well-being issues.
- Organizing conferences, workshops, and seminars to share knowledge and best practices.
- Implementing projects aimed at improving health and social services.

The NDPHS Secretariat is responsible for coordinating the activities of the partnership and providing administrative support. The Secretariat is located in Stockholm, Sweden.
