Spider-Man 2099 is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character was created by Peter David and Rick Leonardi in 1992 for the Marvel 2099 comic book line, which was set in a dystopian future of the Marvel Universe. The character's real name is Miguel O'Hara, a brilliant geneticist living in the year 2099 who attempts to recreate the abilities of the original Spider-Man and becomes a new Spider-Man in the process.

Spider-Man 2099 first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #365 in August 1992, before receiving his own series, Spider-Man 2099, which ran for 46 issues from 1992 to 1996. The character has since appeared in various other comic book series, video games, and animated television series.

Character Biography[edit | edit source]

Miguel O'Hara is a geneticist working for the megacorporation Alchemax in the year 2099. After a failed attempt to quit his job, he is subjected to a genetic experiment that accidentally rewrites half of his DNA with a spider's genetic code. This grants him spider-like abilities, including enhanced strength, agility, and the ability to cling to walls. Unlike the original Spider-Man, Miguel has retractable talons on his fingers and toes, and he can produce organic webbing from spinnerets in his forearms.
