The papaya, papaw or pawpaw is the plant Carica papaya, one of the 22 accepted species in the genus Carica of the family Caricaceae. Papayas contain 120 calories, 18 grams of sugar, and are a great source of vitamin A. Some benefits they have are they prevent asthma, lower risks of cancer, support bone health, prevent diabetes, aids digestion, lowers risks of heart disease, and maintains skin and hair.
