The Stanford Cardinal women's basketball team represents Stanford University in women's college basketball. The team competes in the Pac-12 Conference and is consistently one of the top programs in the nation. The Stanford Cardinal women's basketball program began in 1974 and has developed into a national powerhouse under the leadership of head coach Tara VanDerveer, who took over the program in 1985. Under VanDerveer's guidance, the team has won three NCAA Championships (1990, 1992, 2021) and has made numerous appearances in the NCAA Tournament.
