From WikiMD's Food, Medicine & Wellness Encyclopedia

Yoplait is a brand of yogurt that is widely distributed around the world. The brand was established in 1965 in France and is currently owned by General Mills and Sodiaal.

History[edit | edit source]

Yoplait was formed in 1965 when 100,000 French farmers merged their regional dairy cooperatives. The name "Yoplait" is a combination of Yola and Coplait, two of the cooperatives that merged. In 1971, Yoplait became the first company to introduce fruit yogurt in France.

In 1977, Yoplait was introduced to the United States market by General Mills. Today, General Mills owns a 51% stake in Yoplait, while Sodiaal, a French dairy cooperative, owns the remaining 49%.

Products[edit | edit source]

Yoplait offers a variety of yogurt products, including traditional, Greek, and whipped yogurts. The brand also produces a line of dairy-free yogurts made from oats. Some of the popular flavors include strawberry, peach, and vanilla.

Yoplait is also known for its innovative packaging. The brand's signature "flower" container was introduced in 1974 and is recognized worldwide.

Marketing[edit | edit source]

Yoplait's marketing campaigns often focus on the brand's French origins and its commitment to using high-quality ingredients. The brand's slogan, "It's So Good!", has been used in advertising since 2012.
