Minneapolis
Minneapolis is the most populous city in the U.S. state of Minnesota and the seat of Hennepin County. With an estimated population of 429,606 as of 2019, it is the 46th most populous city in the US.

Minneapolis was incorporated as a city in 1867, the year rail service began between Minneapolis and Chicago. It later joined with the east-bank city of St. Anthony in 1872.
Geography[edit | edit source]
Minneapolis lies on both banks of the Mississippi River, just north of the river's confluence with the Minnesota River, and adjoins Saint Paul, the state's capital.
Economy[edit | edit source]
The economy of Minneapolis is based in commerce, finance, rail and trucking services, health care, and industry. Smaller components are in publishing, milling, food processing, graphic arts, insurance, education, and high technology.
Culture[edit | edit source]
Minneapolis is home to numerous cultural landmarks such as the Walker Art Center, the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, the Minneapolis Institute of Art, and the Weisman Art Museum.
Education[edit | edit source]
The city is home to five Fortune 500 companies, and the University of Minnesota, the state's primary research university.
Transportation[edit | edit source]
The city's public transportation network includes the Metro Transit, which operates the light rail system and most of the city's buses.
Sports[edit | edit source]
Minneapolis is home to both the Minnesota Twins (MLB) and the Minnesota Vikings (NFL).
