iOS 16 is the sixteenth major release of the iOS mobile operating system developed by Apple Inc. It was announced at the company's WWDC 2022 event on June 6, 2022, and was released to the public on September 12, 2022. iOS 16 introduces several new features and improvements over its predecessor, iOS 15.

Lock Screen Customization[edit | edit source]
iOS 16 introduces a new lock screen customization feature, allowing users to personalize their lock screens with different fonts, colors, and widgets. Users can also create multiple lock screens and switch between them easily.
Focus Mode Enhancements[edit | edit source]
The Focus mode introduced in iOS 15 has been enhanced in iOS 16. Users can now link specific lock screens to different Focus modes, providing a more integrated experience.
Messages[edit | edit source]
The Messages app has received several updates, including the ability to edit and unsend messages, mark messages as unread, and recover recently deleted messages.
Mail[edit | edit source]
The Mail app now includes features such as scheduled send, undo send, and improved search functionality.
Live Text and Visual Look Up[edit | edit source]
iOS 16 enhances the Live Text feature, allowing users to interact with text in videos. The Visual Look Up feature has also been improved to recognize more objects and scenes.
Health and Fitness[edit | edit source]
The Health app now includes a new Medications feature, allowing users to track their medications, vitamins, and supplements. The Fitness app is now available to all iPhone users, even if they do not have an Apple Watch.

iOS 16 introduces new safety and privacy features, including Safety Check, which helps users manage their sharing permissions and reset access for people and apps.
