iOS 15 is the fifteenth major release of the iOS mobile operating system developed by Apple Inc. It was announced at the company's WWDC 2021 on June 7, 2021, and was released to the public on September 20, 2021. iOS 15 introduces new features and improvements to enhance the user experience on iPhone and iPod Touch devices.
Features[edit | edit source]
iOS 15 includes several new features and enhancements:
- FaceTime: FaceTime has been updated with spatial audio, voice isolation, and wide spectrum audio. It also introduces a new grid view and the ability to schedule calls with a shareable link.
- Focus: A new feature that allows users to customize their notification preferences based on their current activity, such as work, personal time, or sleep.
- Notifications: Notifications have been redesigned with larger icons and a new summary feature that groups non-urgent notifications together.
- Safari: Safari has been redesigned with a new tab bar and support for tab groups. It also includes new privacy features such as Intelligent Tracking Prevention.
- Live Text: A new feature that uses on-device intelligence to recognize text in photos and allows users to copy, paste, and look up information directly from images.
- Maps: Apple Maps has been updated with more detailed maps, improved navigation, and new features such as immersive walking directions and enhanced transit information.
- Weather: The Weather app has been redesigned with new graphics and animations to better represent current weather conditions.
- Messages: Messages now include new ways to share content with friends and family, including a new "Shared with You" section that highlights content shared in conversations.
