Ethylene is a hydrocarbon which is a colorless flammable gas. It is used in the manufacture of a wide range of chemicals and is an important plant hormone.

Ethylene is used in a wide range of industries. It is used in the manufacture of polyethylene, a common plastic compound. It is also used in the production of ethylene oxide, which is used in the manufacture of detergents, thickeners, solvents, plastics, and various organic chemicals. Ethylene is also used in the ripening of fruits.

Exposure to ethylene can cause dizziness, nausea, headache, and shortness of breath. Long-term exposure can lead to more serious health effects such as memory loss and numbness in the extremities.
