UTC-6
UTC-6 is a time standard that subtracts 6 hours from Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). It is used in many North American, Central American, and South American countries, primarily during standard time (winter). During daylight saving time, these regions switch to UTC-5.
Regions in Standard Time[edit | edit source]
All year round, the following regions are on UTC-6:
During the winter (standard time), the following regions are on UTC-6:
- Central Time Zone of Canada, which includes cities such as Winnipeg, Manitoba, and Regina, Saskatchewan
- Central Standard Time of the United States, which includes cities such as Chicago, Illinois, and Dallas, Texas
- Most of Mexico, excluding the states of Baja California, Sonora, Sinaloa, and Nayarit
- Central America, including countries such as Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Honduras
- The Galápagos Islands of Ecuador
Regions in Daylight Time[edit | edit source]
During the summer (daylight saving time), the following regions switch to UTC-6:
- Mountain Time Zone of Canada, which includes cities such as Calgary, Alberta, and Edmonton, Alberta
- Mountain Daylight Time of the United States, which includes cities such as Denver, Colorado, and Albuquerque, New Mexico
- The state of Chihuahua in Mexico
