Klazomania means screaming

The term 'klazomania' was coined by Benedek in 1925.

Etiology[edit]

In Greek, klazo means 'to scream'

Clinical features[edit]

Klazomania is described as attacks of compulsive shouting that happens in many neurological conditions including postencephalitic Parkinsonian syndrome, chronic epidemic encephalitis[1].

Diagnosis[edit]

Diagnosis is through a thorough history, physical examination, by a neurologist or other well trained physician. Witnessing an episode can be helpful for the provider but is not required to make a proper differential diagnosis.

Treatment[edit]

Electroconvulsive therapy has been reported to help.[2]
