  • Lisinopril and Hydrochlorothiazide Tablets is indicated for the treatment of , to lower blood pressure.
  • Lowering blood pressure lowers the risk of fatal and non-fatal cardiovascular events, primarily strokes and myocardial infarctions.

How does this medicine work?[edit | edit source]

  • Lisinopril is in a class of medications called angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors.
  • It works by decreasing certain chemicals that tighten the blood vessels, so blood flows more smoothly.
  • Hydrochlorothiazide is in a class of medications called diuretics ('water pills').
  • It works by causing the kidneys to get rid of unneeded water and salt from the body into the urine.

  • Lisinopril and Hydrochlorothiazide Tablets should not be used in patients who are hypersensitive to any component of this product.
  • This medication cannot be used in patients with a history of angioedema related to previous treatment with an angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor and in patients with hereditary or idiopathic angioedema.
  • This product is cannot be used in patients with anuria or hypersensitivity to other sulfonamide-derived drugs.
  • Lisinopril and Hydrochlorothiazide Tablets cannot be used in combination with a neprilysin inhibitor (e.g., sacubitril).

What to do in case of emergency/overdose?[edit | edit source]

  • No specific information is available on the treatment of overdosage with lisinopril and hydrochlorothiazide.
  • Treatment is symptomatic and supportive.
  • Therapy with lisinopril and hydrochlorothiazide should be discontinued and the patient observed closely.
  • Suggested measures include induction of emesis and/or gastric lavage, and correction of dehydration, electrolyte imbalance and hypotension by established procedures.

Lisinopril

  • The most likely manifestation of overdosage would be hypotension, for which the usual treatment would be intravenous infusion of normal saline solution.
  • Lisinopril can be removed by hemodialysis.

  • When used in pregnancy during the second and third trimesters, ACE inhibitors can cause injury and even death to the developing fetus. When pregnancy is detected, PRINZIDE should be discontinued as soon as possible.

  • Safety and effectiveness in pediatric patients have not been established.

What should I know about storage and disposal of this medication?[edit | edit source]

  • Store at 20° to 25°C (68° to 77°F) [see USP Controlled Room Temperature].
  • Protect from excessive light and humidity.
  • Dispense contents in a tight, light-resistant container as defined in the USP with a child-resistant closure, as required.
  • KEEP TIGHTLY CLOSED.
