Myocardial infarction

Myocardial infarction (MI), commonly known as a heart attack, occurs when blood flow to a part of the heart is blocked, causing damage to the heart muscle.   • Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG): In more severe cases, a CABG surgery may be performed to reroute blood flow around the blocked artery using a graft, usually taken from a vein or artery in the leg, chest, or arm.
