Circle Seven Animation
Circle Seven Animation was a short-lived animation studio owned by The Walt Disney Company. It was established in 2004 and was primarily created to produce sequels to Pixar Animation Studios' films, which were originally distributed by Disney. The studio was named after the street where it was located, Circle Seven Drive in Glendale, California.
History[edit | edit source]
Circle Seven Animation was formed during a period of tension between Disney and Pixar. At the time, the distribution agreement between the two companies was set to expire, and there was uncertainty about whether it would be renewed. As a result, Disney decided to create its own studio to produce sequels to Pixar's successful films, such as Toy Story, Monsters, Inc., and Finding Nemo.
The studio's first project was intended to be Toy Story 3. However, the plot and development of this version of the film were ultimately scrapped when Disney acquired Pixar in 2006. Following the acquisition, Pixar's creative team took over the production of Toy Story 3, which was released in 2010.
Closure[edit | edit source]
After Disney's acquisition of Pixar, Circle Seven Animation was deemed redundant. The studio was officially closed in 2006, and its projects were either canceled or handed over to Pixar. The closure marked the end of Disney's attempt to produce Pixar sequels independently.
Legacy[edit | edit source]
Although Circle Seven Animation was short-lived, its existence highlighted the importance of the relationship between Disney and Pixar. The studio's formation and subsequent closure underscored the value of creative collaboration and the challenges of producing high-quality animated films.
