- It is indicated for use with positron emission tomography (PET) imaging of the brain in adult patients with cognitive impairment who are being evaluated for Alzheimer's disease (AD).
How does this medicine work?[edit | edit source]
- Tau protein misfolding is responsible for the developemnt of alzerimers disease.
- This drug acts by binding to the areads of the brian where there are misfolded Tau protein then, The brain can then be imaged with a PET scan to help identify the presence of tau pathology

- Flortaucipir F18 is a radioactive drug.

- Use waterproof gloves and effective shielding, including syringe shields, when preparing and handling TAUVID.

- The recommended amount of radioactivity to be administered for PET imaging is 370 MBq (10 mCi), administered as an intravenous bolus injection in a total volume of 10 mL or less.

- Ensure safe handling and preparation procedures to protect patients and health care workers from unintentional radiation exposure
- TAUVID is not indicated for detection of chronic traumatic encephalopathy[CTE]
