This medicine works by blocking CGRP receptors which are thought to be involved in migraine pathophysiology.

Rimegepant cannot be co-administered with certain medication, so consult doctor before taking.

How should this medicine be used?[edit | edit source]
Rimegepant is taken orally, it should be dissolved on or under the tongue without any additional liquid. It takes an hour to be effective and provides relief for up to 48 hours.

Rimegepant is sold under the name Nurtec ODT which was developed by Biohaven Pharmaceuticals.

75 mg PO as needed
Not to exceed 75 mg per 24-hr period
Safety of >18 doses/30 days has not been established
Dosage for preventing migraines[edit | edit source]
Indicated for preventive treatment of episodic migraine
75 mg PO every other day

Adverse side effects include nausea and hypersensitivity, including dyspnea and severe rash.

Use dry hands when opening the package of Nurtec ODT, and take immediately after opening.
