Α-Tocotrienol

Α-Tocotrienol is a form of vitamin E that is part of the tocotrienol group. It is one of the eight different types of vitamin E, which also includes four forms of tocopherol. Α-Tocotrienol is a type of fat-soluble vitamin that is known for its potent antioxidant properties.

Structure and Properties[edit | edit source]

Α-Tocotrienol, like all tocotrienols, has a hydrocarbon tail with three double bonds, which distinguishes it from the tocopherols. The presence of these double bonds gives Α-Tocotrienol its unique biological properties, including its antioxidant activity.

Α-Tocotrienol plays a crucial role in protecting the body from oxidative stress and free radical damage. It has been found to be more potent than α-Tocopherol in its antioxidant activity.
