Samir Mitragotri

Samir Mitragotri is an Indian-American scientist and a prominent figure in the field of drug delivery and biomaterials. He is currently a professor at Harvard University and holds the position of Hiller Professor of Bioengineering and Hansjörg Wyss Professor of Biologically Inspired Engineering at the Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences.

Samir Mitragotri was born in India. He completed his undergraduate studies in chemical engineering at the Institute of Chemical Technology in Mumbai. He then pursued his Ph.D. in chemical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he worked under the guidance of Professor Robert Langer.

After completing his Ph.D., Mitragotri joined the faculty at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) in 2001. During his tenure at UCSB, he made significant contributions to the field of drug delivery and was appointed as the Mellichamp Chair in Systems Biology. In 2017, he moved to Harvard University, where he continues his research and teaching.
