Monoterpenoids are terpenoids having a C10 skeleton - these are commonly found in many trees including pine trees. They are also found in barks, heartwood, softwood of trees, vegetables, fruits and herbs

Emitted by forests[edit | edit source]

Monoterpenes are emitted by forests and form aerosols. These aerosols are proposed to serve as cloud condensation nuclei (CCN).

Role in climate control[edit | edit source]

The monoterpene aerosols can increase the brightness of clouds and cool the climate.
