McKids

From WikiMD's Food, Medicine & Wellness Encyclopedia

McKids is a brand of children's clothing and accessories, produced by the international fast food chain McDonald's. The brand was launched in the late 1980s and was primarily available in McDonald's home market of the United States. The McKids line included a variety of items, such as t-shirts, hats, and toys, all featuring the McDonald's logo and characters from the company's advertising campaigns.

History[edit | edit source]

The McKids brand was first introduced in 1987 as part of McDonald's efforts to expand its brand and reach a younger demographic. The initial product line was limited to clothing, but it quickly expanded to include a variety of other items, such as toys and accessories. Despite its initial success, the McKids brand was discontinued in the early 2000s due to declining sales and a shift in McDonald's marketing strategy.

Products[edit | edit source]

The McKids product line was diverse, ranging from clothing to toys. The clothing items were typically casual and comfortable, designed for everyday wear. They often featured the McDonald's logo and characters from the company's advertising campaigns, such as Ronald McDonald and the Hamburglar. The toys and accessories were similarly branded and were often included as promotional items in McDonald's Happy Meals.

Legacy[edit | edit source]

Despite its discontinuation, the McKids brand has left a lasting impact on the fast food and children's clothing industries. It was one of the first examples of a fast food chain creating a branded line of clothing and accessories, a trend that has since been followed by other companies. The brand also helped to further establish McDonald's as a family-friendly company and contributed to its reputation as a leader in children's marketing.
