HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor
HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor is a substance that blocks the key rate limiting enzyme needed by the body to make cholesterol. HMG-CoA_reductase_inhibitors are medications that lower the amount of cholesterol in the blood. HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor drugs are called statins such as simvastatin(Zocor), pravastatin(Lipitor), rosuvastatin(Crestor) etc. Also called hydroxymethylglutaryl-coenzyme A reductase inhibitor.
