One Man Band is a 2005 computer-animated short film produced by Pixar Animation Studios and directed by Andrew Jimenez and Mark Andrews. The film was released alongside the feature film Cars.

Plot[edit | edit source]

The story is set in a small Italian village where a young girl named Tippy is about to drop a coin into a fountain to make a wish. However, she is interrupted by a street performer named Bass, who plays multiple instruments simultaneously, hoping to earn her coin. As Bass performs, another one-man band named Treble arrives and competes for Tippy's coin. The two musicians engage in a musical duel, each trying to outdo the other. In the end, Tippy accidentally drops her coin into a drain. Disappointed, she demands a violin from Treble and plays a beautiful melody, earning a bag of coins from a passing villager. She then tosses a single coin to each of the musicians and walks away.

Production[edit | edit source]

One Man Band was created using computer animation techniques and showcases Pixar's signature style of storytelling and animation. The film features a musical score composed by Michael Giacchino, who has worked on several other Pixar films.

Reception[edit | edit source]

The short film received positive reviews for its animation quality, musical score, and humorous storyline. It was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film in 2005.
