Coca-Cola Blāk

From WikiMD's Wellness Encyclopedia

Coca-Cola Blāk was a coffee-flavored soft drink introduced by The Coca-Cola Company in 2006. It was primarily available in the United States, Canada, and European countries like France and the Czech Republic. The beverage was a fusion of Coca-Cola and coffee, aiming to target adult consumers with a sophisticated palate. Despite its initial hype, Coca-Cola Blāk was discontinued in 2008 due to poor sales.

History[edit | edit source]

The Coca-Cola Company launched Coca-Cola Blāk in France in January 2006, before introducing it to the United States in April of the same year. The beverage was part of Coca-Cola's strategy to diversify its product portfolio and tap into the growing market for coffee-flavored drinks. However, the product failed to resonate with consumers and was discontinued in 2008.

Product Description[edit | edit source]

Coca-Cola Blāk was a carbonated beverage that combined the familiar taste of Coca-Cola with natural flavors from coffee. The drink was sweetened with high fructose corn syrup in the United States, while the European version used sugar. Each 8-ounce bottle contained 46 milligrams of caffeine, slightly more than a can of regular Coca-Cola.

Reception[edit | edit source]

The reception to Coca-Cola Blāk was mixed. Some consumers appreciated the unique blend of cola and coffee, while others found the taste off-putting. The product's relatively high price compared to regular Coca-Cola also deterred some potential buyers. Ultimately, the lack of consumer interest led to the discontinuation of Coca-Cola Blāk in 2008.

Legacy[edit | edit source]

Despite the failure of Coca-Cola Blāk, The Coca-Cola Company continues to experiment with coffee-flavored beverages. In 2020, the company launched Coca-Cola with Coffee in several international markets, indicating its ongoing interest in this product category.
