Coca-Cola Clear

From WikiMD's Food, Medicine & Wellness Encyclopedia

Coca-Cola Clear is a variant of the popular carbonated soft drink Coca-Cola, produced by the The Coca-Cola Company. Unlike the traditional Coca-Cola, Coca-Cola Clear is a clear, lemon-flavored version. It was first introduced in Japan in June 2018.

History[edit | edit source]

The concept of a clear cola is not new. In the 1990s, both PepsiCo and The Coca-Cola Company experimented with clear versions of their flagship products, resulting in Crystal Pepsi and Tab Clear. However, both products were short-lived.

The idea for Coca-Cola Clear came from the Coca-Cola Japan team. The product was developed over a period of a year, undergoing around 50 trials before the final version was decided upon. The clear drink is a zero-calorie product, with a hint of lemon added for flavor.

Product Description[edit | edit source]

Coca-Cola Clear is a zero-calorie, lemon-flavored, clear version of Coca-Cola. The drink is packaged in a clear plastic bottle, with a label that features the traditional Coca-Cola logo but with a minimalist, clear design to match the product.

The flavor of Coca-Cola Clear is described as unique, with a refreshing cola taste that is lighter and crisper than the original Coca-Cola, with a hint of lemon. The clear color is achieved by leaving out the caramel ingredient that gives the original Coca-Cola its brown color.

Reception[edit | edit source]

Upon its release, Coca-Cola Clear received mixed reviews. Some consumers appreciated the lighter, more refreshing taste, while others felt it lacked the depth of flavor of the original Coca-Cola. The product's clear color also drew attention, with some consumers finding it novel and interesting, while others were put off by the lack of the traditional brown color.
